Terms of Service
Last updated June 10, 2026
The short version: pay once, use Pro forever on one machine at a time, commercial use included, 30-day money-back guarantee. The software is provided as-is.
Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Jeff Pegg (jpegg.dev), the developer and operator of API Dev Studio. By downloading, installing, or using API Dev Studio, or by purchasing a Pro license, you agree to these terms.
The software
API Dev Studio is a desktop application for Windows, macOS, and Linux used for API mocking, proxying, and webhook capture. It is proprietary software, not open source. We grant you a license to use it; we do not sell you the software itself.
Free tier
The free tier may be used without payment, including for commercial work, subject to its feature limits. We may change the limits of the free tier in future versions.
Pro license
A Pro license is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring fee.
- Lifetime for v1.x: your license covers the version you bought and all v1.x updates at no extra cost. Future major versions (v2.0 and later) may be a separate purchase, offered at a discounted upgrade price.
- Single user, one machine at a time: the license is personal to you and is activated on one machine at a time. To move to a new machine, deactivate the old one or contact us and we will sort it out.
- Commercial use allowed: you may use Pro for client work, at your job, or in any commercial project.
- Not transferable: you may not resell, rent, or give your license key to someone else.
What you may not do
- Share, publish, or resell license keys.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent license enforcement.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the software, except where the law expressly permits it.
- Use the software to break the law, including attacking or intercepting traffic of systems you are not authorized to test.
Payments and refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe. Pro purchases come with a 30-day money-back guarantee: if you are not happy with it for any reason, email jeff@apidevstudio.com within 30 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. Refunded licenses are deactivated.
Your data
Everything you create in the app is stored locally on your machine, and you own it. You are responsible for backing it up. See the Privacy Policy for the few cases where the app communicates with our services.
Updates and availability
We aim to keep improving the app, but we do not promise specific features, update schedules, or that online services (update checks, license activation, tunneling) will be available without interruption. The core app works offline and does not depend on our services to run.
Third-party services
Some features rely on third parties: Stripe for payments, GitHub and Cloudflare for downloads and updates, Cloudflare for license activation, and Resend for email. Their terms apply to their services.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk. We do not warrant that the software will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jeff Pegg and API Dev Studio will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of the software. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license, or 50 USD if you have not paid anything. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Termination
We may terminate your license if you materially breach these terms, for example by distributing license keys or circumventing license enforcement. You may stop using the software at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive (warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability) survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the laws of the state in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page, and material changes will be noted in release notes or on this site. Continuing to use the software after a change means you accept the updated terms.
